Grapevine and La Viña are here to help

Due to the current changing health situation, many AA meetings across the U.S. and Canada are finding it safer to close. To help members during this time, we are giving everyone free access to all of our 2020 Grapevine and La Viña issues. (The audio to Grapevine’s stories will be available as well, so people can listen to the stories if they like.) Please share with your fellows. We have also included a link to our Youtube channel with some original audio stories as well as other important information.

CER Assembly Vienna 3–4 March 2018

CER Regional Assembly March
March 3, 2018 @ 12:00 pm – March 4, 2018 @ 1:00 pm

Please join us for our quarterly Regional Assembly in Vienna, Austria
More information, including invitation and agenda, will follow.

If you have any agenda items, or need further information, please contact the secretary.

From CER CER Regional Assembly March

More information is still pending but this much we know!

The assembly will meet at the “Youth Hostel Brigittenau” and all members of the Vienna fellowship are more than welcome to sit in on the meeting as observers. This is a great opportunity to see service work on a larger level in action.
Also, the assembly will spend a great amount of time discussion the various answers to the conference questions – some of our groups have been involved last year in answering them and will hopefully do so again this year.

What is a CER Regional Assembly?

The aims of the Continental European Region are implemented through the group conscience of the representative group known as the CER Regional Assembly. This assembly elects six delegates to attend the annual AA General Service Conference in York, Great Britain. Assemblies are held a minimum of four times a year, and are composed of the following:

  • Maximum of two representatives from each Intergroup
  • A representative (GSR) from any group in a geographic area not covered by an Intergroup
  • Regional Service Officers
  • Conference Delegates and Alternate Conference Delegates
  • A General Service Board (GSB) Trustee
  • Other designated members
  • Visitors and observers

Report from the AA Convention in Trogir

Trogir – Two conventions, one higher power!

Two nights before our road trip to the 2017 AA and NA Conventions in Trogir, Croatia, I was being of service to someone in the fellowship by escorting her home from a gig loaded with open bars. We were rewarded with this nail in my tire, which had been a gift roughly 100km prior. Luckily my favorite mechanics were able to replace the tire immediately, and this tire actually got us back into town with one breath if fresh air.

New tire installed, two friends of the fellowship climbed into my car and we drove down to Trogir to meet up with one of our fellows who was already down there. This was the view hat we saw before our descent towards Trogir.

The following morning I registered myself at the hotel for both conventions and attended meetings at both the AA and NA convention.

Immediately I bumped into two familiar faces from Vienna at the AA convention.  It helped me feel safe right away.

The old city of Trogir offered some pleasant scenes of the Adriatic when we went out for our first night of bonding: Pizza!

This restaurant was actually recommended by the gent who made sure our car got a new tire hours before our departure!

And the Pizza was worth the wait!

I ended up spending most of my time at the NA convention, most likely because it was physically closer to the sea, where my higher power wanted me to go swimming as much as possible. There was enough time between meetings to enjoy a swim or some of the delicious food options!

One the last day I went sailing with some new friends I had made at the convention!

Before I left Croatia, I made sure I knew what my next convention would be. I decided that I would visit places I always wanted to go by letting my higher power escort me to conventions. Next stop: Japan!

The trip taught me that there is a lot of fellowship at conventions, and that you can’t fix the shit in your head with the shit in your head. I’m grateful for all the fine folks I met as we shared a bit of the road together of our happy destiny! Trogir was certainly one we will never forget and hopefully re-visit. Special thanks also to my good friends from Vienna for being by my side, and to our steadfast webmaster for encouraging me to write this post.

May it happen to you.

Love,
Phil

ITALYPAA CONVENTION- MILAN 17–19 MARCH 2017

title-min-min

ITALYPAA will take place 17–19 March 2017 in Milan.

Young People’s Groups in Alcoholics Anonymous began appearing around 1945 in Los Angeles, CA, Cleveland, OH and Philadelphia, PA and now they can be found all across the world in countries like Sweden, England, Denmark, Germany, Iceland, Malta, Ukraine, Czech Republic, Lithuania and more. These groups are in no way different than AA as a whole. They carry AA’s vital life giving message and follow the well-known responsibility pledge of AA

I am responsible …
When anyone, anywhere, reaches out for help;
I want the hand of AA always to be there.
And for that, I am responsible
ITALYPAA is the result of the EURYPAA convention, which took place in Rome in 2015, in which Italian AAs had the opportunity to meet and to discover the common desire to create new opportunities for young people in the AA program. “Young” means everyone who is willing to grow, alcoholism has no barrier of age.
ITALYPAA is organized with the intention of celebrating sobriety in AA while emphasizing the recovery of young people, young in recovery, and  young at heart. ITALYPAA shows how in AA “we are not a glum lot.” Unity and celebration is a vital part of AA as a whole.
We invite all members of AA to attend the conference. The number of young people suffering from alcoholism and seeking help in AA is growing.
ITALYPAA is and will remain faithful to carrying AA’s recovery message to alcoholics of any age.
The annual ITALYPAA conference provides an opportunity for members of AA both inside and outside Italy to join in harmony by sharing their experience, strength and hope.In the spirit of cooperation with all of AA, EURYPAA provides visible evidence that large numbers of young people are achieving a lasting and comfortable sobriety in Alcoholics Anonymous. The 12 Traditions, 12 Concepts, Responsibility Pledge and The Three Legacies of AA — Recovery, Unity & Service — are the guiding foundations of ITALYPAA as an AA event, just as they are throughout all of AA.ITALYPAA will strive to cooperate with any AA area where the convention is held. We will also regularly contribute to the AA General Service Office, as well as to the Area Service structure in the local areas where the convention is held. ITALYPAA convention attendees are most often participants of the local service areas where the convention is held or has been held. They can often be found serving at General Service Offices or Area Service structures in the ITALYPAA region. As further testament that Young People’s events like ITALYPAA are a part of AA as a whole, at the 1960 World AA Convention, Bill W. noted that the age of new members was much lower than when he and Dr. Bob founded AA 25 years earlier.
